    Presentation By Reginal Johnson

Restoration Ecologist, and AKA the "polypore queen"

Photo caption: Regina with a huge Fomitopsis ochracea (aka red-beltedconk) she somehow managed to pry off an old Yellow-cedar high in theOlympics. Photo by Steve Ness.

This presentation will go over the ecology and identification of the common trees of the southern Washington Cascades and foothills, both east and west sides. Yes most of them are conifers, but there's only a couple dozen native species of trees of any kind in the whole state, so once you know what to look for, you can learn to identify every native tree, including the conifers. We'll also go over how trees and fungi interact and what some of the common tree/fungus associations are.

Free to current members and $5.00 for guests. We encourage you to register ahead of time. Room at the event is limited. Member check-in and guest tickets may be available at the door if seats are available.

    Doors open at 6:30

Meeting will start at 7:00 PM. We'll hold our regular membership meeting and the presentation will begin shortly thereafter
